I am not quite sure what it is that is drawing me to you. Your diversity, your expanse
your sense of solidity and strength, you are like sentinels keeping sister water at bay.
Does the human family walk over you? Sit among you?
I see strength and also vulnerability to all of the elements and to rising waters and tides. Are these the primary sources that have shaped and formed you over so many seasons? How did you get broken and cracked? What brought so many of you together in this location?
Have we humans been a factor in your being broken and torn apart?
As I ask all my questions, you remind me that, like us humans, you also have a story, alone and together. A story of growth and movement of pain and hurt. We have been a part of each other's stories for good and for bad and I am sure the stories are endless.
What is it you would like us to know dear Rock Family? I would be most grateful for your perspective and wisdom.
Dear Assunta, Thank you for seeing us, in our strength and in our vulnerability. Thank you for taking the time to want to know of our story. Our stories alone and together truly are endless as we have been in this place for a very long time.
Our collective story has been shaped most definitely by water, wind, sun, and soil, as well as energies beneath us. Storms have shaped and reshaped us in myriads of ways.
We have not always been appreciated by the human family as we have been seen as more of an obstacle rather than a treasure. That understanding is slowly changing thanks to those who choose to see the MORE of us.
In rimming your coast line we bear the brunt of all weathering. This keeps the soil and trees safe from erosion and potential harm. We daily face the unexpected and together we make the best of each situation.
As we said above, more and more of the human family are coming to appreciate us for who we are, alone and together. They are also becoming more aware of how we serve the whole on a daily basis. This means a lot to us.
Thank you so much dear Rock Family for the gift of you and the gift you give every moment of every day.
